ABOUT

PS:

It would mean the world to me if you’d let me know more about YOU!

I read every note!

Hey there, I’m Amanda!

I’m so glad you’re here! I’ve been waiting for you!

I was born and raised in small-town, USA (the woods in Michigan :).. ). Not literally the woods, but you get the idea. My high school was nestled perfectly in between Amish farm fields. Until the day I got married (when I was 19 years old! Eeek!), I lived in the same 2 bedroom little ranch-style house on a good chunk of land, giving me plenty of space to live and dream and be. In the summer, I’d go to bed smelling like a campfire and listening to the frogs as they sang me to sleep. It was there, on that land, in that house, where I learned how to work hard, care about people, and stand up for what I believe in, even if I was the only one standing.

My momma and daddy taught me what real love looks like, how to fight for it, and how to hold tight to the only lasting things in life. Every ounce of grit and grace in me has been a result of my raising.

Life has taken me many places over the years since getting married (being a military spouse and all) but never once have I forgotten where I come from and the love and lessons that were instilled in me in a humble Midwestern hometown, by people who love me no matter how crazy I am. 😉

Speaking of the military –  I am a proud Air Force wife of over 17 years! 🇺🇸

I love my country and the people who get to call Her home. I am so proud that our family gets the privilege of serving together alongside some of the best people in the world. My husband, Mike, and I have been a lot of places together; from the Rocky Mountains of Montana, to some of the most beautiful places in Europe, to Texas (God Bless the pickup trucks!), and Viva Las Vegas (aka: Grace City). Finally, after 17 years of praying for the ocean, God said yes and we are currently stationed in Key West, Florida… surrounded by palm trees, sunshine, and some of the most unique characters you’ll ever find.

My handsome husband and I have two kiddos who know how to keep us young and grow us old at the same time. If you have kids, you know  exactly what I mean! 🙂 Seriously, they are everything God knew we needed. Manning and Grace remind me of the reason to have hope for the future; they know how to love big, use their head and heart, and listen. (Lord, help us to be more like the little ones in this way!)

A lot of people who aren’t in the military-life wonder how in the world people like us do it; “How do you just uproot every couple of years and start all over? Isn’t that hard??”
Yup. It is.

But I wouldn’t have it any other way right now.
The way I see it, this military life is a gift. It reminds me of the brevity of life. You know when you move somewhere you only have a short amount of time there. There’s no time to waste, so you’d better make it count. It serves as a reminder to me that life is short, so I want to do what I can while I have the chance. Ya know, my momma used to tell me when I was younger and would babysit, “Baby, leave it better than you found it.” Meaning, whatever house I was in, leave it better than I found it. Do the dishes. Sweep the floor. Clean up the mess. – I had no idea then, but that idea is one that has fueled me everywhere we go, but in a new kind of way.  – Wherever our family gets called to serve at, my goal is to leave that place better than I found it.

While I try my best to invest in the places we get to call home, I am more convinced than ever before that people make the places what they are.

People are not a means to an end and it drives me absolutely nuts when they are treated that way.

I believe that every single person is worth the investment of hope and inspiration, and wherever I go, with whatever I do, I aim to bring that to them because I know what it has meant to me when others gifted that to me.

I want to remind you that you are capable of living fully and freely, right where you are. You are worth living a life that outlives you.
You can (and should) hope higher and believe bigger because it changes everything.

Here’s to you, my friend.
To the best parts of you that you’ve been holding back because of a world that tells you to play small.

Not anymore, though.

We’ve been waiting for you…. 😉

Love
Amanda:)
